Facilitated the first-ever foray into the Japanese market for this €130M, 900-employee company that is the world’s leading supplier of materials and component systems, by forming a joint venture. Conducted comprehensive analysis of the Japanese market and evaluated potential Joint Venture with a major competitor, negotiated terms of reciprocal declaration and resolved shareholder concerns. Drafted “Letter of Intent” outlining joint venture terms which was embraced by corporate.

Hired as Marketing Manager to Japan and promoted to Sales Director for ASEAN and Fareast Asia directing sales and set up distribution- and service channels to China, Korea, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Relocated to start-up the direct sales network in Malaysia and Singapore. Set up wholly owned subsidiary in Singapore of this German manufacturer of conveyor and power transmission belts with a consolidated turnover of €220M.

Recruited to build and lead with full P&L responsibility the first direct sales initiative in Europe for this €240M Japanese manufacturer of chain hoists to the material handling industry. Oversaw and directed a team to expand sales and marketing, grow brand awareness, forge strategic partnerships and alliances, and generate new business that captured a dominant market share and expanded from Germany to EMEA in 5 years.

Hired with full P&L responsibility to turn around an European division that included production, finance, administration as well as sales and marketing for this Japanese manufacturer of products for the power transmission and material handling industries with revenues of US$420M. Reorganized the European sales/production units and expanded the sales distribution network. Accelerated focus on OEM business and new entry to the East European and African Market.
